Concept
The first idea
is about something bionic.
Leopard however were chosen because of 3 aspects- spot, body and dynamic:
Spot
The spots of leopard were extracted to transform into the pattern. It could be analyzed with Voronoi to figure out the regulation that how the spots distribute.Body
The body shape of leopard provided the skeleton to set the unit patterns on.Dynamic
The changing motions from a running leopard were similar to the concept of Futuristic art which could be used to develop the form.Shape
As the pointed-out spot shows on the pictures, these points are the important spots of a running leopard on each track motion.
After linking the points together, the switch and the changing between the motions could appear clearly.
This is the size of the basic form that we will show in the final model.
The model will be constructed of Pentagons and Hexagons. And the key point to let this surface bend and rich of variety changing not just be a horizontal plan is the Pentagons.
When the Hexagons connect with the Pentagons, it will generate a bending surface which could be also fix on the human body.
We want transform this 2D bendind surface into a 3D model like a tissue.As the picture shows.
Conclusion
The three-dimensional mesh structure could not be constructed with only Hexagon to reach the well curvature.The construction principle of Bucky ball, which consists of not only Hexagon but also Pentagon, could provide a well method to create curvature on the mesh, even on the human body.
