[DF 2013S] Group 8: development v0418

Case Study

This pavilion is the culmination of a semester's research into a novel digital fabrication technique by a team of graduate students in the MIT Department of Architecture.

The patterns allow the plywood to be bent into a predictable shape without the use of additional tools or techniques.   (http://architecture.mit.edu/architectural-design/project/kerf-pavilion)

Studying by introduction to Digital Fabrication - Summer 2008

Wanting to learn the composition of the unit consists of a sheet folded directly.

Competition entry for the Art Fund Pavilion project, using a modular wall element system that allows for the creation of a complex geometry enclosure yet minimizes material waste when prefabricating the elements out of plywood using a CNC cutting process.
The wall system is based on the possibility to prefabricate spatial modular elements out of cnc-cut panels that have all connection details already encoded into them. This would allow for easy assembly and disassembly .(http://www.ameijde.dds.nl/wordpress/?page_id=116)

Spatial imagination

Concept

We want to do the function of a device in the space available to sit, lie down, or a table, having different functions in different parts of.
Through different irregularities changes to shape the body as well as the structure discussed

Design Development

From irregular to find the unit change

Rhino-Grasshoper

Standing started to make structural support system and different dimension of thinking

Solid model

Operational changes by the list item remove the 4 corner control
